Roger T. Parks, 89, of Bloomington, passed away Tuesday at Monroe Hospital. He was born on September 8, 1922 in Monroe County, IN, the son of Edgar Stanley and Rose Jane (Thompson) Parks. Roger served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of the Labors Union #741 for 50 years, the American Legion Post 18 and a member of the 736th Field Artillery Battalion. Roger and his wife Minnie attended IU Basketball and Football games from the time Assembly Hall and Memorial Stadium were built until they could no longer (health-wise) attend. Roger is survived by his loving wife Minnie C. Parks; his daughter Jenny Robertson, three grandchildren Patti Lynn Sears (Joe), Kelly Dee Rogers (George) and Cathy G. Wilson Sr. (Chuck); seven great-grandchildren Gideon Sears (Kaycee Hamm), Jerusha Young (Jake), Lazarus Sears, Moses Sears (Abby Morron), Hailey M. Rogers, G. Wyatt Rogers and Jacob R. Cornwell; two great-great grandchildren Owen Young and Oliver Young; one step great-great granddaughter Zoe Lee Wilson; one sister Mary Jane Parks and son-in-law Guy "Bo" Robertson. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Sarah C. Hatchett, one brother Harold Parks, sister -in-law Ann Parks and his sister Vera Parks. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Allen Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Dr. Schmalz for taking time from his family and driving three hours to care for Roger before returning to his well-earned time off.  They would also like to thank Southern Care Hospice for all of their help.
