In the early 1960's Garry became a deputy sheriff with the Jackson County Sheriff's Dept. and then was hired by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources as a conservation officer.  He along with several other men were the first officers hired to work out of the then newly established Paynetown District of the Lake Monroe Watershed project.  He then spent the next 35 ½ years working out of that district as a conservation officer.  As a conservation officer, he attended and graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield, IN and constantly attended seminars and classes regarding his profession.

Garry was a longtime member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church in Bloomington and the Fraternal Order of Police, Mitchell, IN Lodge,  He loved to support worthy causes and  encouraged others to support organizations such as the Community Kitchen, Backstreet Missions, Sanders Pentecostal Church, Bloomington Home Health and Hospice, Bloomington Hospital Foundation (Cardiac Rehab Unit) and the Caregivers, Inc.  Memorial contributions in his name are appreciated.

Survivors include Garry's loving wife, Judith (Crago) Ault, his sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Janet Ault of Nashville, IN, David and Madonna Ault of Homasassa, Fl and Greg and Janet Ault of Princeton, IN,  his step-daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Monte Pugh of Winter Springs, FL, his step-son and daughter-in-law, Preston and Judy Crabtree of Columbus, one sister, Janie Densford of Scottsburg, IN, his grandchildren; Wesley Ault, Meghan Ault, Corie Sutton, Kristin Galloway, Thomas Ault, Emma Ault, Noah Followell, Honna Followell, Kane Crabtree and Cole Crabtree.

I was shocked when I read that Garry Ault had passed away. I haven't seen him for a few years, but had the distinct pleasure of assisting him when he arrived at the Bloomington Hospital. No matter the time of day, or night, Garry was always dressed up in a coat and tie. He was a gentlemen's gentleman. He provided such compassion and professionalism in his job for the funeral home. I was always impressed by this man, who always looked at the positives in life. He was a man who made others feel better no matter the circumstances and his loss is absolutely immeasurable. I pray for his family, friends, and loved ones. There is no doubt about Garry Ault being in heaven now.
